Welcome to the (TV) Season

Earlier this week, someone reminded me that fall = new TV. I had forgotten, as I don't have a TV or a regular torrenting/streaming habit.

Of course I instantly panicked that I was falling behind on my crime-drama-guilty-pleasures (Bones and The Mentalist), and promptly caught myself up. Bones is unfortunately not well-written at the moment, but I am highly committed to the characters and slightly crushing on all the men. Sooooooooo, I watch. The Mentalist comes back on Sunday, and let me tell you, I am pumped.

And then when I got home from work yesterday, I was tired and achey and bored, and before you know it, I had watched 2.5 hours of comedy on my little netbook and it was dark and there were no lights on in my apartment... I felt a bit embarrassed, but reminded myself this is not a regular occurrence. And then I decided: this year, I'm watching Up All Night and Modern Family. I'm not watching New Girl or Parks and Rec. Maybe I'll watch 30 Rock, occasionally.

So I've got my shows. Two comedy, two drama. That's 3 hours - perfect for a weekly night-in with a hot drink and a snack and very little thinking. Just the right amount for me.

    We'll be trying out a new show tonight - Homeland. I think the first season aired last year. Will let you know what we think of it.
    I have loved the episodes of The Mentalist that I've seen, but never consistently watched it.
    Sucked back into Grey's.
    Will likely continue on with The Office as well. We'll see.

    A friend told me about Homeland and I didn't listen, now I've paid the price by not guessing correctly at last week's Emmys.

    My fall programs include How I Met Your Mother, The Office, Parks & Rec, Happy Endings, Modern Family, and The Colbert, and for drama The Walking Dead.

    So that's 1.5 votes for Homeland... I will have to check it out.

    Vaness, I highly recommend Up All Night. I think I might have mentioned it when I visited...check it out!


    Peter - I tried The Walking Dead, but I am toooooooo jumpy & tense. I couldn't handle it, although I think it's fascinating and well done!

    WHATEVER YOU DO FIND DOWNTON ABBEY SEASON 1 and 2 AND CATCH UP BEFORE SEASON 3 STARTS. IT IS THE MOST AMAZING SERIES I HAVE EVER WATCHED. I wrote in all capital letters so you could hear me yelling from BC. I am totally serious though. I watched the entire first season in a day and a half.

    And I vote for Modern Family and Jeopardy of course. (I actually PVR it now).

    vanessa, homeland won like a bajillion emmys. i know this because i watched the emmy awards this year. yes, i am slightly embarrassed.

    betharoo: bones has bad writing? uh oh. watching the season premiere this weekend.

Last summer, I started writing a blog entry that I never finished. There are several like that, actually. This particular one starts out: If you are male, you probably don't want to read this entry. I mean it. I'm not sure if I'm going to keep up with a different 'theme' for blogging every day. Sometimes I like it, and sometimes I hate it. But what I do know is that Sundays are no longer Fundays.
